Why come to me, at Stop For A Massage, for a massage?
I provide intuitive, client-focused massage therapy. But what does this really mean? You will receive a free 15 min initial consultation before your first massage so that I can get to know your unique needs, physical characteristics and personality. This is essential to providing an effective massage because the health of your body is affected by your lifestyle as well as your thoughts. During this time we can determine what would be the best possible and safest massage for you.
During your unique massage I will draw on a variety of skills and techniques which will include working both superficially and deeply with your muscles and body tissues. Where appropriate I will also use mobilisation and passive stretching to encourage more movement in restricted tissues and to coax muscles to return to their natural length, instead of remaining in their restricted habitual length which over time can dramatically alter your posture and cause you pain.
Your massage plan might include some deep tissue work, some mobilisation and some massage for relaxation. It might involve me working in a few different areas of your body with you lying on your back and on your front. I always ask if there are any areas of the body you feel uncomfortable about having massaged. For some people the thought of having their feet touched would be horrendous for others it's heaven. Some people are very conscious about exposing their bodies at all and would never want to expose their legs. The initial consultation gives you the chance to tell me your worries and concerns so that I can avoid any 'no go' areas, so I can hopefully put you at ease. My aim is to make you feel as comfortable, relaxed and cared for as possible so you can enjoy and benefit from the massage.
After the massage we can discuss further ways you can continue to develop the health of your muscles and connective tissues.
Although you will not receive a 15 minute consultation before further massages it will always be important to quickly discuss how things have changed from your last massage and what you would like to get from the current massage.
